About

J’s Greenstore is a resource for green, earth-friendly living. In early 2009 it was passed to me as its previous admin had lost interest in promoting it. I began to think about how it could be used in a positive way. My own interest in green living is intrinsically tied up with my own anti-war views and so it felt natural to me to include this in the blog articles. I aim to provide an upbeat, positive site with resources for environmentally-conscious living. We are slowly adding more articles that address how peace sustains our green philosophy.

We feel that it is our responsibility to voice our concerns about the negative effects of violence and war on both the environment and on society. The viewpoint taken on these pages is that modern war is a planned and proactive policy of denying people the ability to live self-sufficiently. The corporate mentality that pervades the most powerful banks and financial institutions demands that each country be forced to adopt modern banking practices so that goods cannot be directly bartered but must be bought with cash or credit. This allows the banks to enjoy perpetual income from the interest generated from the creation of cash and credit. Military force is used to deny third-world countries the means of being free from these debts.

As a veteran I am also familiar enough with western military technology to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that if America was really worried about negating threats from “rogue nations” and insurgent groups, it has the technical capacity to quickly eradicate them with little impact on civilians. The fact that it chooses not to exercise this power but instead busies itself trying to torture, humiliate and otherwise reprogram the civilians of the societies it fights against proves that it is using warfare for ulterior motives. In other words, if America’s forces used their full technological powers, rogue groups would be eliminated forcefully and the populations of third world countries would then have free reign over their own resources. Since America does not want to see this happen, it has purposely fought a war with vague objectives, forcing its soldiers to fight with one hand tied behind their back so to speak, only so that the war will linger on until international corporations have enough time to transform the entire enemy culture into a consumer based culture. I cannot see such a war as being patriotic or noble from either a traditional conservative view or a modern liberal view.

By speaking out against this kind of barbarism, we hope to pave the way for a society where self-sufficiency and living in harmony with nature is valued in and of itself regardless of whether it benefits wall street. The goal for all of us should not be how much we contribute to the GDP, but how to create sustainable practices that generate healthy foods, tools and other goods that can be shared by all.

Blessings,

-J
